We were very happy to welcome the families of the first HKCA Po Leung Kuk School students to our Registration Day last Monday. Parents registered for lunchbox delivery and school bus, purchased school uniforms, and the children met their teachers and visited classrooms. With the first day of school on Monday 28 August, everyone is excited to get started!
1. Renovation Update
We are delighted that Phase 1 of the School’s renovation has now been completed. We have six completely new classrooms, an Art/Music room, a Library, and new toilets. Phase 2, which will see the addition of 14 more classrooms, a specialist Art room, assembly hall, lobby and offices, as well as a new playground surface, is scheduled for completion by spring 2018.
2. Admissions / Staff Update
We are welcoming 96 students from 16 countries in Grades 1, 2 & 3. We are thrilled that we have 3 classes for Grade 1, one class for Grade 2 and one class for Grade 3 in our inaugural year. We will be accepting new students during the academic year and so expect this number to creep up as the months go by.
We have recruited teaching staff from Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, and we have enjoyed getting to know one another during our teacher orientation sessions. Our teachers are very excited to meet our new students on 28 August, our first day of school.
