to HKCA Po Leung Kuk School

I’m really honoured to have been given the opportunity to be part of another brand-new school right from its very beginning, as the founding Principal of HKCA Po Leung Kuk School. I am very keen to develop a wonderful international learning community that provides a transdisciplinary, challenging learning environment in a happy, safe and caring, family-like atmosphere.

Our small neighbourhood school opened its doors on 28th August 2017 with our first cohort of 96 children in Grades 1, 2 and 3 representing 17 nationalities. We will be accepting new students during the academic year and so expect this number to creep up as the months go by.

At HKCA Po Leung Kuk School, every child is treated as an individual. Each child’s personal learning journey includes support to build confidence, encourage lifelong learning, and provide opportunities to celebrate their individual interests, strengths and abilities. Every child will be inspired to grow, motivated to learn, and eager to share their views through a wide range of learning opportunities. We are committed to offering an excellent education that both challenges children to reach their potential and makes learning fun along the way.

Po Leung Kuk, a long established charitable body in Hong Kong, operates over 120 schools and educational institutions, and about 180 service units in the areas of culture, recreation, health and welfare across Hong Kong. With its vast experience of establishing and operating quality private independent and direct subsidy schools, Po Leung Kuk’s commitment to establishing a not-for-profit international school (subject to further Education Bureau approval) offering a high quality non-local curriculum marks a new milestone in the Kuk’s education services.

The International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme (PYP) provides a broad and balanced yet inspiring curriculum framework that focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the outside world. We have applied for PYP Candidate School status*, with authorisation targeted for the 2019-20 school year. By creating an environment where students make connections between what they are learning in the classroom and the world around them, we are creating global citizens who will be well prepared to take leading roles in the world.

*Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP). the Diploma Programme (DP) or the Career0relater Programme (CP). Candidate status give no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For more information about the IB and its programmes, click here.

As Principal, I want the children to genuinely love coming to school every day because they are enthused and excited by their learning. Our promise is that we will do everything possible to inspire and motivate our students, making sure that they are given the opportunity and support to be the very best they can be!

Please come along and meet the team to discuss your child’s future and how we can meet your child’s needs.
